1. St. Basil's Cathedral on Red Square is Moscow's most
famous tourist attraction in Russia. Although it's known to everyone as St.
Basil's, this legendary building is officially called "The Cathedral of
the Intercession of the Virgin by the Moat". The popular alternative
refers to Basil the Blessed, a Muscovite 'holy fool' who was buried on the site
(in the Trinity Cathedral that once stood here) a few years before the present
building was erected. Actually, the logo of Miss Universe 2013 has St. Basil’s Cathedral
on it.
2. The State Hermitage is a museum of art and culture in
Saint Petersburg, Russia. One of the largest and oldest museums in the world,
it was founded in 1764 by Catherine the Great and has been open to the public
since 1852.
